The Knutsford branch was a former Little Chef restaurant located just off the M6 motorway on the A556 road near Knutsford, Cheshire.
The Little Chef at Knutsford first opened in 1987 and was built at a small service station (sporting restaurant, lodge and filling station) on the eastbound side of the A556 next to a busy junction of the M6 motorway. Like some other sites, Knutsford is one of those Little Chef sites with more than one name. When the site first opened, the Little Chef was known as the Knutsford branch. When Granada built a Little Chef at the Knutsford motorway services on the M6 (located one mile south), the Little Chef on the A556 was renamed the Tabley branch in order to avoid confusion between the two sites. However, when the Little Chef at the Knutsford motorway services ceased trading, the Tabley branch changed its name back to Knutsford.
In 2002, the Little Chef recieved the "New Choices" Makeover, giving it some smart new furniture and access to exciting menus from Harry Ramsdens, Upper Crust, Wiseguys Pizza and Caffe Ritazza. Nowadays it trades again as a standard Little Chef, but quite a smart one. Unlike most Little Chef sites, Knutsford was one of few Little Chef sites to recieve a coffee lounge. Coffee lounges are always benefits as they give weary travellers a place to relax.
In 2013, the Travelodge on site closed and was replaced with an Ibis budget hotel.
On the 23rd July 2017, the Little Chef at Knutsford ceased trading following the Euro Garages takeover. The future of the restaurant is currently unknown but it is very likely that it will become a Starbucks
