The Beckington branch was a former Little Chef branch at the Beckington TRSA (trunk road service area) on the A36 in Beckington, Somerset.
The Beckington service area opened in 1989/1990 after the A36 bypass was constructed alongside the village. The bypass was ultimately built to the east of the village in 1989 as one of three locations decided. After the bypass was built, the service area opened on the Bath end of the bypass, at the entrance of the village. The Little Chef itself opened in 1994.
A commemorative plaque inside the Little Chef states when the Little Chef was opened. It is believed the plaque refers to its opening date as 1994. Little Chef operates in its own building. The other sites at the service area include a Travelodge and a Texaco filling station (which itself has a Smile shop, Costa Express and car wash).
The Little Chef had their Retail Shop. The totem poles featured the Little Chef logo at the top and also featured the smaller Retail Shop logo beneath it, with both logos featuring the mascot Charlie. For a while in the mid-late 2000s, a "Price Crash" logo was also placed in a roundel on the totem poles beside the Little Chef logo featuring Charlie. The roundels were removed but the holes where they were attached to the pole still remain,
The Little Chef closed its doors at 12 noon on the 12th June 2017 and is set to become a Starbucks. The Starbucks is due to open in August 2017
