The Ardrossan branch was a former Little Chef located on the A78 road near Irvine, Scotland.
The Little Chef at Ardrossan first opened between 1968 and 1972 and was positioned next to a single carriageway stretch of the A78, meaning that the Little Chef could be easily accessed by all traffic on the road. Ardrossan had something of a celebrity in terms of the Little Chef as it claimed to have been the first Little Chef to open in Scotland. It was the perfect place to position Scotland's first Little Chef as diners could enjoy fantastic views of the Firth of Clyde across to Arran.
In 2002, Little Chef was sold by then owners Compass Catering to new owners Permira of Canada, along with Travelodge. It this time there was a cull of sites with some older, standalone sites closing and sadly Ardrossan was one of the casualties. The Little Chef has happily reopened as a garden centre with a cafe.
